Broke But Not Broken :)

More than a year ago, I started sending applications to my dream workplace. After sending at least seven resumes for different positions, I finally received a call from them three months ago (February of this year).  That, actually, made me surprised because that was a position I applied for just because.  So when they asked me to take an exam, I took it.  And I passed. 😀

There were about 10 applicants (including me) during that first exam.  Three weeks after, they called me again for another exam.  This time, we were nine applicants from different batches.  I believe we were three from my batch.  Anyway, that second exam was quite challenging.  I honestly thought I had a 50-50 chance of passing it.  I did my best, so I just let God do the rest.  Two weeks after, it seemed that God heard my prayer because I was finally invited for the final interview.

Out of the nine applicants, only three of us were invited for the interview.  ONLY THREE.  And I thought I didn’t even have a chance!  Anyway, my last job interview happened more than three years ago that’s why I really tried my best to prepare for this one.  Luckily, I have two friends who already work for my dream workplace (lucky them, indeed!), and thanks to their tips, I wasn’t THAT shocked anymore when I finally entered the room.

Entering the interview room felt like being in a reality show wherein you’d be judged.  Except with this one, instead of talent, you’d be judged based on your answers.  There were four people who interviewed me, two of them were foreigners.  AND I was the first one to be interviewed — thanks to my surname NOT!  Alphabetical order ba naman!  Kulang nalang talaga literal na dumugo ang ilong ko!  Add to that the Manila heat!!! =))

Honestly, I thought I did fine.  Most of the questions I anticipated were asked, and I was really comfortable during the interview.  But I’ve to admit,  most of the answers I practiced didn’t get delivered the way I expected them to be.  After the interview, I felt “incomplete.”  I knew that I could’ve answered BETTER.  And today, I found out that my dream workplace didn’t want “better”; they wanted THE BEST.

*all together now*  AWWW!  ARAY!!  OUCH!!!

Of course, from the very beginning, I knew that my dream workplace doesn’t want anyone or anything but THE BEST.  Unfortunately for me, my best wasn’t good enough for them.  AT LEAST FOR NOW. 😉

That’s right!  I wouldn’t call my dream workplace my DREAM workplace if it was any ordinary workplace.  I’ve already shown my perseverance by sending seven resumes…  why stop NOW?  I say, seven resumes…  and still counting!  And since I’m already unemployed as of today (more on this on another blog entry), I’m kinda officially “broke” from here on.  Haha!

But hey!  I may be “broke” now, but I’m definitely NOT broken.  As long as I have “hope,” I know that finding my “career path” will come sooner or later.

Sure, there will be bumps on the road (which can cause delay), but that’s life as we know it anyway.  But what matters most, especially NOW, is for me to just keep going until I finally make my DREAM workplace a REALITY.

Tama naman ako diba? 🙂  O kaya ayan, smile na ulit diyan! 🙂

“No matter how dreams may seem unreachable, dream them anyway.  No matter how we’ve been hurt by the people we love, love them anyway.  No matter how hard life is, live it anyway.  No matter how prayers may seem unanswered, pray them anyway… for GOD WILL MAKE A WAY.”

P.S. When I started this blog, I was working for my now-former company for 4 months.  Imagine, THIS post is my 100th post!  Who would’ve thought that I would embark on another “unemployed” journey after 2 years, 9 months, 5 days, and 100 blog posts?  Hahaha!  Anyway, The Lady is now out! 😛

Movies, Reviews

Who Wouldn’t Want To Kiss Captain America and Thor?!

Iron Man, that is! 😛

That’s right, I’m talking about The Avengers.  (Spoiler alert for those who still haven’t watched the movie!)

Anyway, let’s get this done and over with!  Even before I watched the movie, I already prepared myself for some major EYE CANDY!  Pagsamahin mo ba naman ang dalawang CHRISEvans at Hemsworthsa isang pelikula!  Deymn!  Wala na yatang mas iinit pa sa napakainit na summer na ‘to!!! @_@

If only the “Avengers” were in a contest, I’d probably award them with these:

Best Biceps: THOR

Oh my guulaaay!  Ilang kilong gulay ba ang kinailangang kainin ni Chris Hemsworth para magka-braso ng ganun?!  I seriously couldn’t keep my eyes off of his arms whenever he had his close-ups!  Yes, Thor‘s biceps > Thor‘s blue eyes and blond hair!  Chris H., pa-huuug nga!!!

Best (Upper) Body: CAPTAIN AMERICA

Hay Chris Evans!  Oo na, ikaw na!  IKAW NA ANG MAS SEXY SA’KIN!  Kaasar, much!!! =))

Best Lines: IRON MAN

From being his usual “genius, playboy, billionaire” self, to his anti-kiss statement (more on that later), I think the outcome of the movie did quite very well thanks to Robert Downey, Jr.‘s witty lines!  Plus, I think he’s the “best” Avenger (and I’m NOT being biased here!  Haha!) 😀

Best Temper: THE HULK

Whaaat?  I know that’s sooo obvious…  but I just can’t CAN’T include him!  Besides, Mark Ruffalo‘s a-okay in his own way (well, just don’t compare him to Evans and Hemsworth and we’re good!)  AND I love the color green!  ‘Nuff said.

Hahaha, okay!  For all my men readers, I apologize.  The things you just read were meant for my fellow lady readers!  (Ain’t that right, girls?  I swear, you’ll totally get me once you watch the actual movie!) 😉

Moving on, I have to admit that I ain’t a genuine The Avengers fan.  So let’s not get into all those comic book stuff and Comic-Con conventions and whatnot!  My knowledge of The Avengers is only limited to its Hollywood version, so to all die-hard followers out there, chillax!  This post is purely for fun!  Or as they say in showbiz, purely for ENTERTAINMENT PURPOSES only!!!

But overall, I can say that the movie was good!  Maybe not THAT great (*cough*FIGHT SCENES*cough*), but it’s worth your money nonetheless.  I actually plan on watching it again with my girlfriend Val! 😉

excuse the low-quality mobile upload! =))

Ooh, before I forget, S.H.I.E.L.D’s very own Nick Fury, Hawkeye, and Black Widow weren’t bad at all!  So those are more “things” to look forward to! 🙂

Now going back to Iron Man‘s anti-kiss statement, THAT scene was actually one of my favorites!  Laugh out loud kung laugh out loud talaga!

“Please tell me nobody kissed me!”Iron Man to Captain America, The Hulk, and Thor (you have to watch the movie to relate!  Hahaha!)

Okay, maybe not The Hulk

But when we’re only talking about Chris AND Chris, to answer that question…  NOT ME!

Thor and Captain America ♥

Which “Chris” are you on? 😉

By all means, please replace “nobody” with “EVERYBODY!”  Diba?  Wahahahaha!

Lemme know what you think once you watch The Avengers.

The Avengers is now shown in Philippine cinemas.

Why Blog, You Ask?

I’m no expert blogger.  You can call me a “hobby blogger” or whatever.  But me, I’m simply a “blogger” — no need to precede it with any adjective found in the dictionary.  I’m simply just a person who enjoys rambling for I just can’t keep my thoughts to myself.

…except with THIS, I use a computer! =))

A blogger.  A simple blogger.  (And there goes the adjective!  Hahaha!)

Anyway, THIS “simple blogger” can seriously say that BLOGGING is for EVERYONE.  And since overgeneralization is in vogue nowadays, heavens yes — that includes YOU! 🙂

So why?  Why should there be more <insert adjective here> bloggers in the cyber world?  Well…

Blogging is…

…a form of “therapy.”  Whether you’re angry, happy, sad, IN LUUURVE, or just plain bored, blogging can help you!  Well, at least that’s what it does for me.  Expressing your feelings through words is, no doubt, therapeutic.  If you’re not convinced, the only way to prove that is to TRY IT.  So go ahead, blog away!

…a “time capsule.”  Aside from ALWAYS thinking of topics that may interest your readers, why not just document how your day went.  It can be as simple as going to a mall and then suddenly bumping into an old friend you haven’t seen in years, or it can be as grand as traveling to Antarctica where no one else has been to except for scientists (oh yes you can!), blog about it.

A picture can PAINT a thousand words.  But a blog?  Aside from already having pictures, a blog can SHOW exactly your feelings through words.  It can show how you felt on that exact same day you went to the mall or traveled to Antarctica.  Plus, it’s easier to “go back in time” through your “archives” widget, don’t cha think?  Heehee.

Blogging can give you…

…improved (writing) skills.  I may not be a big shot in writing, I may not be friends with J.K. Rowling (which sucks ’cause I hear she’s even richer than the Queen!), I may not be a Freshly Pressed blogger here on WordPress (are you hearing this WordPress?!  Haha!), but I get to be “published” with just a click of a button!

On top of that, there’s no pressure.  I don’t have to worry about what my editor will say or what errors I will commit.  I don’t even have to get disappointed when my “marketing strategy” fails for not having enough hits on one blog post.  Why?  ‘Cause I’m ALL that when it comes to my blog.  I edit it, I proofread it, and I “market” it (thanks Facebook and Twitter).  Most importantly, I “learn” every time my fingers get in touch with my keyboard.  Count them together and I already have a total of FOUR SKILLS I was able to improve just by blogging.  So if you’re in need of a budding editor/proofreader/marketing assistant/learner, just give me a call, will ya? 😉

And oh!  Before I forget, some people have actually been telling me that there’s a big improvement in my writing skills (yay, another improved skill!) compared to the way I wrote in one of my previous blogs — all thanks to the never-ending “lessons” I get, one blog entry at a time.

…followers.  In the form of your stalkers readers, of course. 😛  Kidding aside, whether they’re your family, friends, colleagues, or even strangers, be appreciative for being appreciated.  After all, they took the time to read what you typed for hours.  Bonus is if they LIKE what you typed, too!

So to you my dear readers, A BIG THANK YOU!!!

…self-fulfillment.  Aside from being read by others, you should also think of YOURSELF.  In the first place, you blogged because of YOU — yourself, and YOU.  Your readers, number of likes, comments — those are just icing on the cake.  Your actual “cake” should be blogging just the way it is.  The way you were able to finally let all those thoughts out.  Fulfilling?  Most of, if not all the time, YES!

…the meaning of passion.  If you don’t call something-you-keep-doing-because-you-enjoy-it-thoroughly-even-though-you-don’t-get-paid-for-it A PASSION, then I don’t know what that is!  ‘Nuff said.

Through blogging, you can inspire others in your own little way.

I’ve had some people (okay, less than 10 but more than five peeps) tell me that they’ve been inspired to blog because of my blog.  THIS blog — this very blog you’re reading right now.  (Whew, that’s plenty of “blogs” in one paragraph!)  Anywhooo…

For me, that person was Patty Laurel.

Like I’ve mentioned, I’ve been blogging even waaay before I thought of “being a lady,” but I still wasn’t THAT into it.  But when I stumbled upon Idol Patty‘s blog, I knew that she was the “push” I needed to go all the way.  So thanks, Patty Laurel — thanks for inspiring me to blog!

As for you, yes YOU!  As in the one reading this post — I hope you get to be inspired, too. 🙂

So why should YOU blog?

Honestly, you’re still the only one who can answer that.  I’ve already told you my reasons…  and if you don’t see any point in them, well, that’s really not my problem anymore.  I say (for the nth time), to each his own.

At least I get to do something I enjoy.  Heck, I can even choose any adjective I want to describe my form of blogging. Question is, do you get to do the same thing?

Oh what the heck, you don’t even have to answer that!  I say, START BLOGGING NOW!!! 😀

Your resident Lady blogger,
Mikhaela Georgette 🙂

(At the end of the day, I still settled for being called The Lady!  KCACO.)

Don’t just Keep Calm And Carry On; also keep calm and BLOG on!
