Two. Zero. Two. Three.

Oh, 2023.

It has been a while — for me to write and update this blog, or even to reflect on things (LOL). I don’t even know where to start.

By the looks of it, I’ve been posting bi-annually for the past two years! Sometimes, I even ask myself why I still keep this blog when the “in” thing these days is vlogs, reels, and whatnot.

Then I’m reminded it’s because I don’t keep this blog for fame or likes; I started this blog in 2009 (it has been through several “revamps”) because I love writing and I believe that’s a gift entrusted to me by God to hone and share to the world.

So yes, I may not have been writing like I used to , but I’d like to think of that as my pause. After all, I’ve been through a lot since the pandemic. We all have been.

This coming 2024, I want to take baby steps again in being consistent. From my fitness journey to my writing skills, that’s the word I want to focus on: CONSISTENCY.

But before that, I’d like to look back on 2023 and reminisce on the blessings despite the challenges it has come with.

2023 has been a year of HEALING — healing from our first (and hopefully last) pregnancy loss in late 2022, healing from all the remaining brokenness that still lingers despite all efforts. After all, we live in a broken world and as my daily prayer states, I may not get complete healing in this lifetime but I believe that God’s healing love is what keeps me going.

If 2023 was also the year you took time to heal or if you’ve hit the pause button even way before, know that you’re not alone. We’re here and we survived! That’s a BIG DEAL, so let’s give ourselves our deserved pats on our backs! 🙂

I pray that this coming new year, though, we get the courage to finally start again… or maybe CONTINUE what has already been started.

So here’s to 2023! And on to blessed and exciting two. zero. two. four!

Happy New Year!!! #2024 😉

Life Lately as a “Bridechilla”

Yep, just like that, almost six months have passed without any activity on this blooog. Haha!

But I’ve great news, since the last time I blogged, I got engaged, reserved our wedding date and church, went to a bridal fair, booked suppliers for our wedding, joined a wedding-related online group, bought our launching pad — yes, I’m officially a BRIDE-TO-BE!!! ❤

(And those are just the wedding-related stuff… I still have other things going on in my life! Whew!)

Anywho, contrary to what most people think of brides-to-be, I’m NOT a bridezilla (and I pray I won’t be one! huhuhaha); I’m more of a bride-CHILL-a = a cool, calm, and collected bride-to-be! Wahahahaha!

Just a quick update (mostly as a personal reference), since I got engaged almost four months ago, we’ve already accomplished / booked MOST of our major suppliers — let this be a checklist for fellow bridechillas out there (oh yeah!):

-wedding date

-wedding budget

-entourage

-church

-florist

-accommodation

-reception venue

-bridal car

-caterer

-cake

-lights and sounds

-photographer and videographer

-photobooth

-host

-bridal dress designer

-female entourage dress supplier

-bridal accessories

-hair and makeup artist

-wedding coordinator (on the day only)

-invitations

There are many others that we haven’t checked off of our list yet, but I’m thankful to God for all the guidance and provisions. Planning a wedding (even an intimate and simple one like ours!) and preparing for marriage are not for the faint of heart, and I’m grateful that me and my fiance (yaasss, Ish isn’t just my boyfriend anymore!!!) are very hands-on with everything.

Also, let this be my simple way of saying that I’m probably going on another hiatus on this blog. I don’t know, maybe the next one you’ll read here is a review of my suppliers. Or our honeymoon baby (I’m claiming it in Jesus’ mighty name!). Or a combination of both. Only God knows.

All I know is that my life lately has been a challenge of balancing time for work, family, friends, finances, fitness, wedding preps, etc. But overall, I thank God that He’s at the center of it all.

Speaking of faith, please pray for me and my fiance, Ish, as we attend the first of our many marriage preparation seminars next week! Rest assured that I’m also praying for whoever you are reading this. God bless! 🙂

HE Is Worth the Wait

Reblogging this because I totally agree! ❤

GodlyDating101

It is so easy to become eager when you are expecting something. Especially when you’ve been waiting on it for a while. We fantasize and obsess, creating a tunnel vision in which we see nothing else except for that one thing we know will bring contentment and joy and even security. Nothing else matters until the dream in our hearts become a reality in our lives. We exude so much passion in pursuit of that next job/career, that house, that car, that relationship… There is nothing wrong with going after any of these things but nothing guarantees that they’ll be worth the wait and truly satisfy us until we learn to trust and wait on God. My dad used to always sing this song “There is no satisfaction without salvation”, and never did I truly understand it until now.

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they…
